National Meat Day started in 2018 when Lex Capitano decided to clear out the freezer. His brothers Demetrios and Francis Capitano along with friends Kevin Sierra and Raleigh Oxendine joined Lex. Not only did Lex clear out the freezer but put together a whole menu of surf, pork, exotics, turf, and wild game (pictured to the right).

The tradition took place on the weekend inbetween Lex and Demetrios’ birthdays in June. It was a celebration to bring friends and family over, and every year it got bigger and bigger. It became a great day to bring friends and family together in the middle of the summer The combination of great food, drink, and brotherhood created “National Meat Day.”

After the second year, Lex thought if he could make this into a nonprofit event. On May 21, 2022 National Meat Day became a fundraiser for a great cause. National Meat Day remains to be a kick back with friends and family, but for a cause greater than anyone who is apart of it.
